Investing in solar panels can be a smart choice for households and businesses looking to reduce their electricity costs and embrace renewable energy. The above savings are a result of customers reducing the amount of electricity they need to purchase from their electricity supplier/. Please note that you will still pay the same amount on your electricity bill for standing charges and for the Public Service Obliga-tion, but you will reduce the unit rate amount (the amount of electricity consumed).

Solar energy is seen by the Irish government as a long-term solution to increasing Ireland's mix of re-newable energy. The Irish Government has therefore implemented a number of incentives to help Irish consumers switch to solar.
An average size Solar PV install would include 10 panels and a hot water diverter with average price of €7,975 (before grant) but is dependant on site survey for accurate quotation. The price after grant of €2,400 for this 10 panel (4.1kWp) system would be €5,575. All installs with deposits paid since 1st May 2023, will benefit from 0% VAT and Solar Share are committed to maintaining pricing following this an-nouncement. Once installed, you can save an estimated €1,190 each year (based on 2,280kWh of solar electricity being self consumed and 1,220kWh being exported to grid). At current electricity price of 41c/kWh and microgen rate of 21c/kWh, your investment payback is an estimated 5 years.
The cost of solar panels will vary depending on the building.

Add a Solar Battery System to increase savings from Solar PV and to store generated energy for later use. Batteries can be programmed to charge at a cheaper night rate if you are on a Home Electric+ Smart Meter time-of-use plan.
Solar Share offers a rate per kWh of 21c. This payment is estimated to range from EUR50-EUR300 annu-ally, depending on your microgeneration system's size and type (a typical installation with 10 panels would cost EUR150).

The Sonnen Battery comes with a market-leading warranty of 10 years or 10,000 charge cycles, and a battery service life of 20 years. The performance guarantee states that the battery will be not less than 70% of its installed capacity after 10,000 cycles.
2,400 The amount you get depends on the system size you have installed, measured by your solar panel's peak power output (in kW / kWp). 2,400 is the maximum grant. Larger installations still get this amount. Other things you get installed (such as batteries and immersion diverters) do not effect the amount of the grant.
Savings from solar panels can vary greatly depending on several factors. On average, homeowners in Ireland could save around 200-400 annually on electricity bills. It's important to note that savings will depend on factors such as solar panel efficiency, energy consumption, and sunlight exposure. 8 Feb 2023
around 10,000 - 12,000 The average cost of a 5kW photovoltaic system in Ireland is around 10,000 - 12,000. This includes the cost of the solar panels, equipment, and installation. However, it's important to note that this is just a rough estimate, and the final price will depend on the specific factors mentioned above. 29 Jan 2023
